These are in summary the main data of the project presented today by Centrale del Latte di Torino to all the most important municipal authorities in Vicenza, for the new production plant to be built for its subsidiary Centrale del Latte di Vicenza.
Through this project, the company will be able to pool the production of fresh and UHT milk and of yoghurt in one single production unit located in the area of Vicenza Est, thus moving away from the two plants currently in operation in the centre of Vicenza and in Valdagno. Also, this project delivers on the commitments made by the Turin-based company with the Municipality of Vicenza following the acquisition of Vicenzas central dairy company in June 2002 by the syndicate formed by Centrale del Latte di Torino (82%) and Granarolo (18%).
Provided all the required building permits are granted in time, the company plans to start the works by autumn 2003 and begin operations in spring 2005.
Centrale del Latte di Torino & C. has been producing and selling fresh milk, dairy products, and ultra-fresh products for over 50 years. It is listed in the STAR segment of Borsa Italiana S.p.A.
Also through the acquisition of Centrale di Vicenza, the company closed its 2002 Balance Sheet with consolidated sales of _ 90 million as against _ 67.7 million in 2001.
